Edible flowers
On todays Living Vancouver Show, the host, Jaeny Baik welcomed Executive Chef Bill Grimshaw from Shaughnessy Restaurant at VanDusen Garden. He introduced some edible flowers that are safe to eat such as pansies and roses. *However, don't go to a flower shop and buy some flowers to eat. They contain chemicals that can be harmful to your body. Flowers on a cake are relatively safe as long as the florists clean them and guests don't start eating the flowers too. In my case, I had a client tell me some guests from a wedding ate red hypericum berries decorated on the cake, which was not intentional for them to do, but I made sure to ask if everyone was alright and they were.
