AIFD is American Institute of Floral Designers.

Like a friend once told me instead of going to university to get a degree it's more like getting your masters in floral artistry.

As far as I know from meeting people who are AIFD members it really isn't an easy membership to achieve. You are tested on the knowledge of design, terminology, techniques, creativity, your ability to arrange skillfully, not to mention working under a great deal of stress within only a couple of hours. Not just one arrangement, but a few more than expected. Nothing like a bit of problem solving~

Similar to watching The Challenge on food network channel 52.
It's where a few contestants enter into a competition to make the ultimate wedding cake or the most amazing sugar sculpting piece, or even an ice sculpture. It's quite intese to watch, can't imagine what the artists blood pressure were.

The only difference is AIFD will empasize on excelling everyones talent and not neccesarily to compete with one another and win money. It's a passion for the designers and for people around the world to enjoy.

So, that's why this year I will be investing to go to the AIFD Symposium for the first time to truly be exposed to some of the worlds top designers and really get inspired! I'm really excited!

Even if you are not a designer, but plan for a getaway, this is one show you can't miss!

It's worth the money and the time! It will be a life time to remember because all you'll be doing is oooing and awwing. I'm sure I will be!

Event starts July 7-11 at Palm Desert California. Hopefully I can leave right after I finish a wedding I'll be working on July 7th, 07 this year!
